……………………….I can't work out how the
roof comes off. I have undone the three bolts at the windscreen and
the three under the boot but there is clearly something holding it in
place at the B pillars.

Can anyone tell me what I should do to remove whatever is holding the
B pillar in place please? I don't really want to smash the glass or
cut the seal to pieces - and there must be a less invasive option, surely?

………………………….Thanks

Mark Willey

Well thats wot you get fur living in Perth Grin!
in 4-5 days it'll come over here in SA. coolish 32 C here today.
Mark
there is a bolt or screw at the base of the roof pillar with a
captive nut. remove bolt or screw & roof should pop off.
The side glass on the roof will fall out during this operation so
have a friend help you or work over a grassed area
I'll try to scan the wksp manual the 3 hr time diff between Adelaide
& Perth means you may get it before you leave work today.

Hi Mark,
There will be two fixing points at the base of each pillar. For the majority
of cars, you will find a screw underneath the headlining material which
covers the pillar, this can be easily undone. Less obvious, peeling back the
front bottom corner of the side window will reveal a pop rivet, this must be
drilled out to release the pillar.
On the early 948s, UK spec to late 1960, but possibly later on Australian
assembled cars, the two lower mountings are screws running vertically into
the rear wing panel. These are quite horrible to undo, it's easy to see why
the design was changed for the later cars!
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Bill.
